Design For Print- Task 2

For this task we have been asked to find examples of design for branding & identity, packaging & promotion, publishing & editorial, information & wayfinding explore the following colour systems:

  • CMYK (process)
  • Spot Colour (2 or more)
  • Monochrome & Tints (solid colour and half-tone)
In order to develop a significant awareness of print production methods, you will need to identify at least 2 examples of each colour process from each of the four areas of design.

The first process i will  be looking at is the cymk colour process:

This is an example of the CMYK colour process, its part of a book, on music. I think the process, used is screen printing. These are strong examples of CMYK, and in this case this colour process, produces a strong outcome.

This is an example of a one off publication. An example of digital CMYK colour system. The piece of work itself, is effective due to the system. Digital print will also allow this publication to be reproduced several times on a small budget.

Here are some examples of the Identity using the CMYK colour system. Printed on to spray cans of the Pantones.  This is obviously CMYK as the identity of the pieces is based around it.

This is an example of branding, using the CYMK colour system, it has been reproduced digitally. The colours used adds to how he logo is portrayed. and makes the type in the middle of the image standard out.

This is another example of branding and promotion in CMYK, it could also be applied to editorial. The final outcomes are effective and th colour helps to interest the on looker in the piece, the logo its self is on uses the a form on magenta and black, but is visually appealing.

This is an example of packaging using the CMYK colour system, the use of CMYK enables the outcomes to be visually eye catching.Using CMYK across the whole line of products creates a strong identity.

These are further examples of packaging using the CMYK colour system, these are re packaged version of Beatles song, Its an obvious use of CMYK. which is what attracted me to publishing the pieces. As a final outcome i think the design could benefit from a different typeface.

Again CMYK, an example of a business card.

This is an example of info graphics using the CMYK colour system,  showing the cmyk colour wheel, its creates an effective final outcome,

This is a very interesting piece of information graphics, looking at the colour of bruising, the topic seems dry, but when put in to this format, it becomes interesting.

Iam now going to be looking at spot colour, with the same sub category.

This is an example of spot colour on the muse album cover,  and is an example of packaging, the final outcomes are very pleasing, and the spot colour adds heavily to the effect of the piece.

This is an example of spot colour, as it uses metallic type, out of the range of CMYK.  This type really adds a sophisticated edge to the company.

This is another example of spot colour, this time on wine bottles to give a sophisticated brand image.

This spot colour gives Jonnie walker help gives Jonnie Walker its brand or identity, with a stylish use of colour in a metallic format. Its also promotion for the future events as a mail shot.

This is an example of information and way finding, using spot colour.
