Poster Competition-Initial Research

For this project we have been asked to look at opposites, and create posters for a new typography book. As my initial ideas i have began looking at the manner in which type is portrayed, and the way that even single words paint pictures of images in your head.

Here i like the manner in which the typography, almost takes image format, really forgetting about how legible the message is. this is something that could not be applicable for this particular project.

This is an example of a pirelli advert, i like the manner in which typography wrks together, and is interlinked. this again in pushing the boundaries of legibility.

i like the idea behind this piece ignoring the grids, and the message behind the piece.

the use of speech marks, could benefit my piece, as it is about portraying a message, through single words

this is a little like the idea behind mine. i like the way in which the images help to portray messages. with in mine the images will hopefully confuse the on looker.

here i love the layout of the piece, like a deconstructive nature to the pages of the book, that could be applied to my idea. IDEA 2!!! 3 different ways of deconstructing text(confusing) spelling out simplicity or construction.

i like the layout of this piece a lot, and the almost hidden message.

Project 100-Inspiration

Here are a selection of the chocolate bars, that the chocolate museum set me. They have been useful for comparing and contrasting with modern day wrappers, and the branding of them. This selection are from all over the world, mainly europe and africa. the things that intreats me most are the changes in colour and the type. these wrappers are from the 1930's to 1990's

Here i have been looking at variations of info graphics, what i want to achieve with mine is predominately clarity in information, and showing it in an effective way. Colour is something that is also important in info graphics.

Here i have been looking at book inspiration, what i want to show is strong layout but focusing on the images of wrappers. what i like about the book directly above is the strong use of type. the colour scheme will be important. i really like the typography on the book above.

Here is example of instructions, i like the layout from the old air fix ones, its simple. and gives strong direction, i think the black and white(sepia) works well as a colour scheme. the lego is is very simple aswell, but would not be suitable for the audience i am looking at.

Cool examples of categorising and design in general, like the use of colours.

Design for screen.

The reason for me choosing this advert is the simplicity and rawness of it. The camera angles also create an interesting film. It also gives inspiration to the viewer, something that will effect there consumer decisions.

Design for screen.

Choosing this video was an easy decision the thing that appeals me to it is the work that must have gone in to developing it, and the artistry.

Here you can see screen shots from the cadburys web sight, the reason for choosing this is through out the web sight they have stayed loyal to there brand image, making it easily recognisable, and the design of the web sight is simple easy to use, and fun. staying true to the brand image.

here you can see the documentary to support the new Renault megan advert, this for me demonstrates a prime example of design being successful as they have thought of something completely different, and taken a refreshing approach, mixed with humour.

this is an image take from the tv show true blood, my reason for choosing this is based around the type, i like the way the logo for the show, has different weightings, and colouring. it is simple and effective.

Design for screen.

The website, appeals to me for several reasons. Foremost i like the simple layout, and the symbols created to suggest the noises. the communicate message accurately and efficiently.

Design for screen.

This advert was a bold choice by the branding company, it knows it product and doesn't try to hide it. It uses humour to connect with it's audience. The on screen design has a strong atmosphere that creates a great advert.

Design for screen.

This emotive advert is along the same lines as the John Lewis advert as it creates a sense of affection. It uses both music and image to create an overall impact. It is a good example of how important music can be when creating a certain tone of voice.

Design for screen.

I like the imaginative approach the designer took, the out of the box thinking works well when advertising such an everyday item.

Design for screen

The reason for choosing this piece is due to it's minimalistic qualities that culminate in visual satisfaction.

Design for screen-John Lewis Ad 2010 - Fyfe Dangerfield 'She's Always A Woman'

the reason behind me choosing this piece is because i like the way it tells a story,  the designers have thought out the advert from a different perspective which makes it interesting and appealing to all stereotypes. Something that could design should have.
